| | Description | Comfortable. Five-fingered flexi-grip. For left or right hand. Withstands extreme heat up to 480 degrees F. The Ove Glove is perfect for the kitchen, barbeque and handling hot surfaces around the house. The Ove Glove exterior layer is made of DuPont Nomex and Kevlar. Interior layer of soft doubleknit cotton. Machine washable. The thermal properties of The Ove Glove outer layer, which is made of Nomex and Kevlar dramatically extend the time you can handle a hot object in your hands. The tough exterior of this glove forms a thermal isolation barrier, slowing the temperature increase in the interior layer of soft doubleknit cotton. When exposed to an open flame, the outer layer of glove does not catch fire and does not melt. The Ove Glove's outer layer is made of 86% Nomex and 14% Kevlar. Classified UL: Protective kitchen apparel as to heat and flame resistant only. Maximum surface temperature 480 degrees F. | |

Good but... Sep 05, 2010 This glove is industrial strength - it provides excellent protection from hot pans and pots. However, it is somewhat bulky and, therefore, cumbersome to use. Perhaps this item would be best suited to a professional kitchen or pizza establishment where access to a hot oven is essential.
Works as advertised Aug 29, 2010 This product really works. I bought it as a gift for my daughter and son-in-law who love to cook and they said it is wonderful. I am now going to put in an order for myself!
Suprising Aug 11, 2010 It actually works. Here's what appears to be a gimic but it actually works..and works well.

Great Product Inside and Outside the Kitchen Aug 07, 2010 While I am not much of chef, this five finger insulated glove is a very useful item for a variety of activities around the house requiring more dexterity than an oven mitt. Originally, I needed a glove to remove extremely hot (400 degrees +) unswitched, always-on spotlights and replace them with much cooler energy-efficient LED bulbs. Leather work gloves did not provide enough insulation but the Ove Glove worked fine. These small diameter bulbs would be difficult to remove with a traditional oven mitten while the five finger Ove Glove design allowed for the press-in, rotate motion required to remove the 2 inch diameter bulbs.
There are few activities that require my using gloves in the kitchen as my meal preparations generally utilize a microwave. However, when I boil water in a Pyrex measuring cup for several minutes to make tea, the handle is too hot to touch with bare hands. The Ove glove works well for this application. When you have a product like this available, you will find new uses for it. Today, I found that the glove works well for holding an ice pack to the afflicted area of the body after an injury. It gives the wearer far more control than an insulating washcloth.
The one problem that may affect some users of the Ove Glove is the permeability of the Kevlar fabric. Steam burns and large amounts of steam will easily penetrate the woven fabric of the Ove Glove. Likewise, hot liquids accidentally spilled on the gloves will burn the skin underneath. Thick silicone rubber oven mitts are better for applications where splashing liquids are involved. Overall, the Ove Glove is as good as it gets without spending significantly more on industrial high temperature gloves.
Pros
Good dexterity
Silicone pads provide excellent grip
Cons
Little to no protection from steam and hot liquids
CONSUMER REPORTS WAS RIGHT AGAIN Aug 04, 2010 After almost 30 years of marriage, burning my fingers while removing the broiler tray with my wife's expensive quilted French potholders had become routine. Never give much thought to potholders, but saw Consumer Reports rave review on these funny looking gloves a couple months ago. No more burned fingers; Consumer Reports was right again.
