1Disappointing Performance and Service Life  Nov 30, 2008 By Andrew Fung
The description of these bulbs led me to believe that they would be energy efficient replacements for a 40W incandescent bulb. In fact, they produce much less light than that. I replaced 3 bulbs in an outdoor carriage lamp with these bulbs and together they produced less light than one of the incandescent bulbs I took out! I estimate they each produce the same amount of light as a 7W incandescent night light.

The color is also more towards the blue end of the spectrum than an incandescent, something I expected but which isn't mentioned in any of the literature. Something to consider if that is important to you.

After 6 months about 10 of the 12 bulbs I installed developed a haze on the inside of the glass envelope. I don't know if this indicates a problem with the seal or if exposure to sunlight causes something inside to decompose but it isn't very attractive in either case.

Today I replaced all 12 bulbs with incandescents and decided to use dimmers and timers to achieve the energy savings I was originally looking for. Because of the low light output and hazy envelope I can't recommend these for safety, security, or outdoor applications.

5Brighter than expected - EDIT - Poor quality!!!  Dec 01, 2008 By Daniel P. Cochran
I bought two of these bulbs to use in my master bath fixture. Amazingly, they're both brighter than the 15-watt incandescent bulbs they were replacing. The only thing that might put some people off is that the light is distinctly bluish. That doesn't bother me, though; these bulbs are definitely the way of the future.

EDIT - Only two months after buying these two bulbs, BOTH OF THEM have gone out! Very disappointing; if I could change my rating to One Star, I would.

1Too much for too little  Apr 15, 2009 By J. Andrew Blaher
I made the mistake of buying 12 of these to replace some 25 watt incandescent bulbs in a very high chandelier. Although the packaging indicated they replaced 40 watts, they in fact produce a bit less than the equivalent of a 15 watt bulb. On top of that one of them has failed six weeks later. They run about 4 hours a day. To get warranty replacement, I must not only send them the receipt but also the defective bulb. Lights of America is simply not a company I would purchase a product from in the future.

1deceptive package  Apr 26, 2009 By George A. Winters "I pod on my unicycle"
The package description is very deceptive, probably known to be totally false by the manufacturer. This bulb puts out the equivalent of perhaps a 10-15 watt incandescent light, and by feeling the heat at the base after use, the light probably consumes much more than 1.5 watts. This kind of outright deception also gives the whole notion of conserving energy a bad after taste for many consumers who end up thinking that conserving energy is a deceptive idea, when in fact there are many good energy saving lighting choices that do work very well.

1Do not buy LED bulbs from Lighst of America  Aug 13, 2009 By T-Rex
I purchased 6 LED bulbs for flood lights. I was happy at the beggining as they were bright and they were LED. Soon enough the bulbs started blinking, checked the bulb and found out that 3/4 of the LED's were burned out. So I checked the rest of the bulbs and they were in the same condition. I contacted Lights of America because I could not return the items to walmart where I originaly purchased them. After 8 months (time from when I contacted Lights of America) they told me they could not refund me but they could change the bulbs only if I have a 10 month old receipt. Even if I had the receipt. The ink that's used on receipt fades out withing weeks. So there's nothing Lights of America could do. So in few words WASTE OF MONEY AND ENERGY. I will stick to the CFL bulbs. They are much more reliable.
