Chop Genie Dec 17, 2009

This Chopper is only useful for soft things like garlic and herbs. The blades bend easily out of place when chopping anything substantial like carrots, nuts etc. You have to bend the blades back by hand in order to get it reassembled after cleaning. This poses a risk of injury, and it is not easy to get the in the exact position to fit the blade guide. Unfortunately, I could not return it because I didn't save the original box.
If you only need it for garlic, herbs and the like, it should serve you well. Otherwise,Emson Chop Genie Food Chopper As Seen on tv I would go for another chopper with stronger blades.

Piece of junk Jan 06, 2011
By Brad Willis I was given ChopGenie as a semi-gag Christmas gift. Tried to chop onions with it today and it literally self-destructed, sending parts flying through the air. So I used it for the first time and it lasted roughly 45 seconds.
If you look at the photo, you'll see a steel shaft that sticks up vertically through the unit with a black plastic knob on top and a high-tension spring wrapped around the shaft. The problem is that the knob on the top of the unit does not screw into the shaft, but rather, is just held there by friction, and not a lot of friction either.
In my case, the tension from the spring caused the knob to fly 10 feet and because there was nothing to then hold the spring in place, it went flying too! I tried to reassemble the thing, but the spring's tension was too much for the knob because, once again, it is only held in place by a bit of friction.
I could probably try to epoxy the Cr@p Genie together, but I think this Genie's going back into it's bottle and then straight into the garbage can. I certainly can't recommend this product.
