Perfect eggs EVERY time!! Jul 13, 2009
By Tammy Arnold I know this is a silly looking gadget but I LOVE IT and you will, too!! I love to cook and entertain but I have always hated boiling and peeling eggs. I have tried everything to get the 'perfect' boiled egg...start them off in cold water with a little vinegar, boil 15 minutes, into the ice water, blah, blah, blah...still, even when they're boiled perfectly, half the time I can't get them peeled without tearing them up. However, my kids LOVE deviled eggs so when I saw the Egg Genie, I decided to give it a try. I can't believe how much I love it!! Not only are the eggs cooked exactly the way you want them every single time (whether soft, medium or hard boiled), they are also EASY TO PEEL!! I have never had a single one tear up. They just slide right out of the shell with absolutely no fuss. Now I don't mind making deviled eggs! I keep a half dozen boiled eggs in a baggie in the fridge and they're great to throw into salads or to grab for a low-carb snack. My sister has fallen in love with mine and wants one, too, so I came online to find one for her and decided to leave a review while I was on here. Two thumbs up from this girl!! :-)

Good, could be better Jul 26, 2009
By jkb I love soft boiled eggs and my family loves hard boiled eggs. Making hard boiled eggs by boiling them in water in a pot is not an issue except that they sometimes crack but I was rarely making soft boiled eggs because it's a pain to get them right. The Egg Genie changed all that - boiling eggs of any consistency is easy and mostly successful. If you follow the directions and use the right amount of water, the eggs are perfect each time. One exception is soft boiling eggs after hard boiling eggs without allowing the unit to cool down. This tends to produce under-cooked soft boiled eggs but this is understandable and I learned my lesson after the first time. I would have given the Egg Genie 5 stars if not for the following. First, the base of the pin to pierce the eggs is too wide. It's almost impossible to make a tiny enough hole as when you press the egg on the pin it tends to travel all the way to the base of the pin. This produces a hole that's too big and results in egg white escaping from the hole. Using my own pin as I always have eliminates this problem but is not as convenient. Second, even distilled water leaves significant deposits on the aluminum plate, even after hard boiling only 3 eggs. Scrubbing with vinegar gets rid of them but is once again inconvenient. So in summary, the Egg Genie is not a perfect product but is a good product at a great price, and I'm thrilled that making soft boiled eggs is no longer a crap shoot.

I'm still looking for an egg cooker to replace the Salton that lasted for years & years. Aug 11, 2009
By HKW The first time I used this one, some egg white oozed to the bottom(because the poaching cups are too small to hold one egg). Even after cleaning, every time I use it, water burns on the bottom, along with a burning smell, & there are stains that won't completely clean-up. It makes perfect hard-boiled eggs. I haven't tried soft-boiled yet. My favorite is poached, but because the cups are too small, each egg runs over into the neighboring cup. Therefore, you can only make 2 at a time

Amazing! I was very skeptical about buying the Egg Genie due to the lack of reviews, but I am so glad I did! I hate boiling eggs. It's just such a hassle, most of the time I forget that I'm even boiling eggs. I have used my Egg Genie at least once a week. I have only tried to hard boil my eggs, I haven't tried the soft, medium or poached yet. So I can't really review that aspect of it. But the hard boiled eggs come out perfect every time. The yolk comes out a very pretty yellow and they are super easy to peel. I love that you can cook 1 or 7 eggs at a time too. It's such a timesaver and it buzzes when it's done. It's just my husband and I at home so alot of the time we don't eat a whole carton of eggs and they usually go bad and we end up throwing them, but now I just watch the expiration date and we boil them the day before they go bad and eat them for breakfast. Really cool! I love my Egg Genie and I highly recommend it!
