1Breaks down & stains clothing  Jul 17, 2009 By M. Qadeer
I was happy with this product until I noticed that the static reduction depended on fabric type and the balls needed to be discharged between loads. For a large load of knits you need more than 2 balls.

The reason that I am returning them is because today's load came out with purple spots on over half the load! The load was on medium heat and the balls are not heat safe even though no temperature limit was listed on the package. Don't buy this version, I don't know about the solid type but the purple pads melt inside and will stain your clothing.

3Still a Better Deal Than Sheets  Jan 26, 2009 By Nuknuk
They like prickly balls and much heavier than tennis balls. They are odorless, and depending on your preference, you might miss the pleasant smell of your favorite dryer sheets. They do work. It makes the clothes fluffy and also lessen the static without using any chemicals.

But if you use it with a little load, it sounds as if somebody put a pair of sneakers in the dryer.

More expensive than the original solid blues from the same manufacturer, without a noticeable difference in the result. The pink part is soft and more delicate. I prefer the all-blue dryer balls.

1Fall apart after 2 uses  Dec 20, 2009 By John Grady
After using the balls for only 2 loads, 2 of the pink static balls fell completely off. Will not buy these again and would not recommend them.

3Dryer Balls are Not Bad  Apr 12, 2011 By Sarah's Infomercial Reviews
I have been using dryer balls for a few weeks now and am somewhat impressed. They are easy to throw in the dryer with a wet load of laundry... but so is a dryer sheet. It is mentioned on the package that dryer balls do not contain any chemicals whereas dryer sheets do. But dryer balls are odorless, so my clothes emerge smelling of burning fabric instead of the flowery scent that I enjoy so much with dryer sheets. But what I do like about dryer balls is that they eliminate static, and they circulate the air throughout the laundry, so my clothes dry fluffier in a shorter amount of time. However, dryer balls are not suitable for small spaces because they make a loud thumping sound. But I have learned to ignore the cacophony of the pounding dryer balls with the roaring tumbling of the machine, and came up with using both dryer balls and a dryer sheet in the same load, so my clothes get the best treatment from each product.

5Really helpful for line drying too  Jan 08, 2010 By Hilary "Jason Isaacs fan"
To save energy, I prefer to dry my laundry on my outdoor clothesline or indoor rack. Before hanging my laundry up, I put it through a brief unheated cycle in my dryer with these dryer balls to reduce wrinkling. The balls also diminish the feeling of "crispiness" that air-dried clothes have.
When I do use them with heat, I believe the clothing dries more quickly and evenly with the balls than without. For such a low-cost item, I think they're surprisingly effective--I can generally put even linen shirts on a hanger and have them dry crease-free after tumbling them with the dryer balls.
I live in an area with typically high humidity, so I don't notice much difference in static.
